At Dickinson State University, Dr. Fader leads the Blue Hawk Concert Band and Pep Band and is responsible for all brass instruction and ensembles. She also supervises student teachers and teaches piano proficiency, music appreciation, methods classes, and the music education courses.
Her university teaching experience includes teaching similar courses and the horn studio at University of Evansville, Indiana, Western Kentucky University, and at Florida A & M University. She also has extensive experience teaching in elementary education in Canada, as a music specialist, in the classroom teaching all subjects and in teacher training. She also served as an advisor to the provincial government for curriculum development and as Coordinator of Teacher Training and Fine and Performing Arts. Other education experience was as the Education Director and Librarian for Owensboro Symphony, KY, and through developing and leading instrumental band and music programs in homeschool associations in Seattle, WA, and Indiana. She has conducted and led small and large ensembles of all types. Her extensive private music studio has had award-winning students and first-chair musicians in several states, and her students are now performing in professional orchestras, teaching in institutions such as Juilliard and Western Kentucky University, and leading elementary and high school music programs.
As a performer, Fader has extensive experience in professional orchestras and has performed as soloist and in ensembles in Canada, across the United States and in Europe. She has earned awards, and has performed on numerous recordings and premieres, such as Roger Doyle’s award-winning recording, “Babel” where her performance was labeled “an extraordinary mini-concerto…” in Wire magazine.
She has been a supporting musician for artists such as Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Glen Campbell and many others. Her Bachelor of Music and teaching certification are from University of British Columbia, Canada, her Master’s from University of Washington, and her Doctorate in Horn Performance from Florida State University. She holds a current teacher certification, and is a member of the International Horn Society, Phi Kappa Lambda, College Music Society and the American Federation of Musicians.
