English Language Learners

The English Language Learner (ELL) Program through the Academic Success Center can help students develop the English skills to succeed in courses of study at Dickinson State University. Different courses are available at different levels of proficiency. The ELL Program also provides direct individual interventions towards specific learner needs.


ELL Program Evening Courses

Dickinson State University provides four different levels of ELL programming. These courses are an integrated approach to learning, acquiring language and are intended for international students. These courses will focus on acquiring academic listening, reading, speaking and writing English Language skills. Placement will be determined by students’ TOEFL scores and other placement instruments as deemed appropriate by the ELL specialist. Staring Fall 2015, DSU provides ELL evening courses.


ELL Specialist Office Location

The office of ELL Specialist is located in the lower level of Stoxen Library (See the Campus Map below), and is open Monday-Thursday 10:00am - 8:00pm, Friday 10:00am-12:00pm.

Library Resources for ELL

Dickinson State University provides resources to help you succeed. LearningExpress Library resources (See the link below) offers skill-building courses and eBooks, and information you need to achieve the results you want at school. Current DSU students can log in with their username and password. Also, a student who enrolls the ELL course has an access to DSU language lab on campus.
