Testing Center

The DSU Testing Center is located in the Academic Success Center. We provide a secure, professional and proctored testing environment to meet individual, University and community needs for admission, English/Math placement, credit-by-examination, certification, licensure, and assessments of freshmen, juniors and graduating seniors.

 

General Testing Center Information

DSU Testing Center is located at the Lower level of Stoxen Library (See the Campus Map below). Please park in visitor parking spaces in front of May Hall while testing.

Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Closed National Holidays, Saturday and Sunday

Dickinson State University student ID is required of all Dickinson State University students in order to use the services of the Testing Center. Non-DSU students taking tests at our Testing Center may use a driver’s license or other government issued photo ID.

Appointments are required for all exams at the DSU Testing Center. Please contact the Testing Center Coordinator via email or phone. Appointments should be made at least two days in advance.

RETEST POLICY AND PROCTORING FEE

DSU students can repeat placement tests twice within a 7 week period.

Proctoring Fee: DSU ($0/ $15.00 per repeat test fee); Non-DSU, including Dual-credit students ($15.00)

TIPS FOR SUCCESS IN MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH COMPOSITION PLACEMENT TESTS

For your sake, preparation for the placement test(s) is important. DSU has a retest policy which allows repeat placement testing within 7 weeks and includes a $15 proctoring fee per retest. Hence, we encourage you to visit the DSU Academic Success Center website or the EdReady site and prepare for your test(s) in advance. Also DSU Academic Success Center provides Tutoring service as well as Mentors-in-Residence program. The EdReady site is strongly recommended as a resource to all incoming students who are looking for a vehicle in which to strengthen their math skills in preparation for the placement tests.

FINANCIAL AID AND DEGREE AUDIT

Remedial classes do not count toward degree audit. However, it will count toward financial aid up to 30 credits. If the students are admitted into an eligible program and takes remedial coursework within that program, they can be considered a regular student. The remedial courses must be at least at the high school level.
