DSU Testing Center Mission statement
The DSU Testing Center supports the mission of Dickinson State University by providing high quality and testing assessment services for students, faculty, and staff. In addition, the DSU Testing Center strives to reach out to the community by providing a secure, professional and proctored testing environment by adhering to the NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines to meet individual, University and community needs for admission, English/ Math placement, credit-by-examination, certification, licensure, and assessments of freshmen, juniors and graduating seniors.
General Testing Center Information
DSU Testing Center is located at the Lower level of Stoxen Library (See the Campus Map below). Please park in visitor parking spaces in front of May Hall while testing.

Dickinson State University student ID is required of all Dickinson State University students in order to use the services of the Testing Center. Non-DSU students taking tests at our Testing Center may use a driver’s license or other government issued photo ID.
Appointments are required for all exams at the DSU Testing Center. Please contact the Testing Center Coordinator via email or phone. Appointments should be made at least two days in advance.
RETEST POLICY AND DSU UNIVERSAL PROCTORING FEE
DSU students can repeat placement tests twice within a 7 week period.

- Non-DSU Online Courses: Please see below.
- Placement Test: First exam – no charge. Retest - $15.00 per exam up to the first hour and $5.00 for each additional hour.
- For Non-DSU/ In-state Schools
- $15.00 per exam up to the 1st hour
- $ 5.00 for each additional hour
- For Non-DSU/ Out-of-state Schools/ non-academic testing
- $20.00 per exam up to the 1st hour
- $5.00 for each additional hour
TIPS FOR SUCCESS IN MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH COMPOSITION PLACEMENT TESTS
For your sake, preparation for the placement test(s) is important. DSU has a retest policy which allows repeat placement testing within 7 weeks and includes proctoring fee per retest. Hence, we encourage you to visit the DSU Academic Success Center website or the EdReady site and prepare for your test(s) in advance. Also DSU Academic Success Center provides Tutoring service as well as Mentors-in-Residence program. The EdReady site is strongly recommended as a resource to all incoming students who are looking for a vehicle in which to strengthen their math skills in preparation for the placement tests.
FINANCIAL AID AND DEGREE AUDIT
Remedial classes do not count toward degree audit. However, it will count toward financial aid up to 30 credits. If the students are admitted into an eligible program and takes remedial coursework within that program, they can be considered a regular student. The remedial courses must be at least at the high school level.
