Do you have an interest in the land and how crops are grown? How often do you wonder where the food we eat comes from? Do you enjoy working with animals or being outside? Are you interested in the economic impact on the U.S. food industry or trading agricultural commodities? Agriculture is not only related to food production, but areas like environmental protection and energy production. It's an exciting time to be in agriculture, where you can combine local work with global impact and enjoy many opportunities for growth and advancement. Can you see yourself working in a corporate setting, but want to remain connected to your rural roots? If so, a career in the growing field of AGRICULTURE may be the perfect fit for you.

You can also get involved in agriculture-related activities through a variety of clubs and organizations, whether you're interested in agricultural sales, livestock/crop judging, involvement on the rodeo team, discussion of issues related to agriculture, or something else entirely.

The Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies at Dickinson State University is dedicated to training students in the agricultural sciences. Today, agriculture and agribusiness are global industries requiring cutting-edge technology, state-of-the-art scientific discoveries, the application of sound economic and business principles, and management of natural resources and the environment. The department administers programs to prepare students for government or private sector careers and for graduate/professional school. The ultimate goal is to equip the students with practical knowledge and skills based on theoretical and proven techniques.

Your experience in and outside the classroom will help make you a more marketable employee who is well prepared to meet the agricultural challenges in the years ahead. We invite you to explore the website for more information. Please contact us if you have questions or want additional information.
