Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Admissions:

How long does the admission process take?
The length of the admission process depends on many different factors. If the application packet is submitted as a complete packet it will be processed more quickly than an application which comes in one document at a time. Once all the documents are received please allow one to two weeks for processing. The closer we get to the start of the semester, the longer the processing takes.

Priority processing dates for fall are January 15th to May 15th and for spring August 15th to October 15th. Documents will be accepted prior to and after these dates, however, our response rate may be slower as our workloads increase.

You may check your admissions status at any time, by visiting your personalized admissions VIP page.

Which documents are required for admission?
Please see the international admissions page here.

Do I pay the application fee?
The $35 application fee is applied to your student account and must be paid before your application is fully accepted. Admissions and immigration documents will not be issued, until the application fee is paid.

Can the I-20 be sent electronically?
I-20s can not be sent electronically as students are required to show the originals with an original signature at all appointments and when traveling.

How long will it take the I-20 to reach me once it has been processed?
All documents are mailed through US airmail and may take 4-6 weeks to reach their destination. If you would like your documents sent to you by FedEx you will need to contact your local FedEx office to open an account. DHL does not service this region. DSU will not accept payments for documents sent by courier services.

If you would like your documents mailed to a friend or relative, please send an email indicating to whom it should be sent along with their address. The address must be a street address, not a PO Box.
