Dr. Carmen Wilson is the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Dickinson State University. She provides leadership for DSU’s academic departments, as well as the offices of library services, academic records, institutional research, and distance education. She also leads the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Division, which includes the areas of career development, disability services, English Language Learning, testing services, TRiO student support services, tutoring, financial aid, student life, international and multicultural programming, health and wellness, and housing and dining. Dr. Wilson serves on the President’s Cabinet and President’s Advisory Council, as well as on other key institutional committees. Prior to joining DSU in March of 2016, Dr. Wilson spent 20 years in the University of Wisconsin System. She began her career at UW-La Crosse, where she progressed from an IAS position to full professor in the Psychology Department. Dr. Wilson also served as chair of the UWL faculty senate, chair of the HLC accreditation committee, and Chief of Staff to the Chancellor and Affirmative Action Officer. She left La Crosse in 2011 to become the Chief Executive Officer and Dean of the University of Wisconsin-Rock County in Janesville, Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology, and master’s and doctoral degrees in counseling psychology, all from Iowa State University. She has authored or co-authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles related to psychology. In 2009, she completed the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Her hobbies include playing music, exercising, and vegan cooking.
