Cost Estimator

Estimate your cost to attend

Pick your credits and a few details to see what a year at DSU could cost. Start with the basics for a quick number, then open any section below to make the estimate more specific.

This is an estimate, not a bill, and it is not binding. Actual charges depend on the credits you enroll in, the housing and dining options you choose, and your personal spending.

Figures are drawn from the published 2026–2027 rates and may change. Errors are possible. Confirm anything you plan to rely on with the university before you make a financial decision.

Resident rates apply to U.S. citizens and permanent residents living in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia, plus residents of the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Everyone else pays the international rate.

Enrollment status

This changes which GPA range applies if you use the scholarship estimator.

Enter 0 if you are starting college. This affects the live-on-campus requirement, and for transfer students it decides which GPA range applies.

Your course load

How many credits?

Full-time is 12 or more credits. Most students take 15 a semester to finish a bachelor's degree in four years.

Tuition is charged on every credit you take — there is no cap. Mandatory fees are different: they stop at 12 credits per semester. So credits 13 and up add tuition only, which makes a heavier load cheaper per credit.

Optional

Your program

Some majors carry extra course charges

Leave this alone if you are undecided. It only changes the estimate for the majors listed.

Some individual courses carry their own fee — music lessons run $145 to $295 per unit, and education field experience and student teaching run $100 to $500. Enter a total here if any apply to you, or leave it at zero.

Tick what you want included. Each box starts at DSU's published estimate — type over it with your own figure if you have a better one.

One-time and annual charges

The application and new student fees are charged once, not every year, so they only belong in a first-year estimate.

Academic Tiered Scholarship

Enter a GPA, a test score, or both. You qualify on whichever one gets you the best award — you do not need to meet every line.

On a 4.0 scale. Leave blank to skip.

Add a GPA or test score

We will show which tier you would land in.

Other scholarships, grants, or waivers

Add anything else you have been offered. Enter the amount for the full academic year. A tiered award can be combined with other institutional waivers and DSU Heritage Foundation scholarships, but not with the DSU Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Scholarship.
