International Admissions Procedure
This is where your journey begins to attend Dickinson State University – follow these steps to get started!
Step 1 - Create an account
Here you can create a VIP Page to request information and personalize your DSU experience. Create a username and password to begin the application process to DSU! Enter your contact information, academic interests, then click submit to access our online application.
Step 2 - Apply for Admission
You may apply for admission to Dickinson State by clicking the "APPLY NOW" button on your VIP homepage. Using the same username and password you created for your VIP page, you can log into the online application for admission, find links to scholarships, find information about financial aid, and discover more about DSU!
Step 3 - Pay the $35 application fee.
The application fee can be paid at the time you apply. Applications will not be processed until the application fee is paid.
Step 4 – Passport Copy
Submit a copy of the data page of your passport. Copies may be submitted by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing to dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
Step 5 – English Proficiency Scores
International applicants must submit proof of English Proficiency. One of the following tests and minimum scores are required for admission.
- TOEFL – 71
- IELTS – 6.0
- Old SAT (CR +M) – 870; New SAT (ERW + M) - 950
- Old SAT Writing – 430; New SAT Writing & Language - 25
Applicants who are citizens of countries where English is the ONLY official language are exempt. For the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education policy regarding the English requirements click here.
Step 6 – Official Academic Credentials
All students who have attended Secondary School outside of the United States must submit required official academic credentials (leaving certificates). Here you will find admission requirements for specific countries:

All post-secondary coursework is required to be evaluated by a National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES) authorized transcript evaluation service. A credit by-credit evaluation is required for all post-secondary coursework. Dickinson State University recommends the following third party evaluation services:

Step 7 – Declaration of Finance form
The Declaration of Finance form may be submitted by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing to dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
- Declaration of Finance All Other Countries
- Manitoba and Saskatchewan Residents
- Other Canadian provinces and Norway
Step 8 – Submit official notices from a bank
These must indicate that the student, student’s parent, or student’s sponsor has the necessary funding for 1 full year of tuition, fees, insurance, room, board, and books. These notices must come in sealed envelopes directly from the bank. Any envelopes that have been opened or tampered with will be automatically declined.

Step 9 – Immunization Document
Submit copy of your immunization document by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing to dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
- 2 MMRs
- Submitted document must show two doses of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine no less than one month apart from a licensed health professional or governmental department. Scanned copies are acceptable.
- Meningitis
- Students under the age of 21 are required to show proof of meningococcal meningitis vaccine given after their 16th birthday.
