Individuals who do not abide by the following disclaimer and associated guidelines noted at the bottom of all listserv communication may have access revoked. This is not a comprehensive listing. Schools, offices and organizations on campus have additional lists that are not included here. You are asked to refrain from responding with your personal views to the listserv.
Other Listservs
Other listservs may be created by individual users and groups for the purpose of expedited communication. While these lists are unofficial communication channels of the institution, users are required to abide by the institutional governing policies, including the Code of Conduct. Other listservs may be unmoderated, at which time, the user accepts liability for possible Cyber Security threats. Due to these listservs being unmoderated, users may opt out of these lists. Members of these lists should be cautious in sharing information from external sources, such as links and pdfs, that may contain Cyber Security threats.
To engage in unmoderated social discourse through the listserv, please opt-in to the dsudiscussions@listserv.nodak.edu list by emailing support@dickinsonstate.zendesk.com. Only current Dickinson State University employees will be permitted to opt-in to this list with their Dickinson State University email address which will be checked against the DSU Directory at the time of the request. Employees who leave the university will be removed from the list.
Formatting Recommendations
- Refrain from using any backgrounds in your messages. This includes but is not limited to background colors, patterns, or images. These alterations can make messages difficult to read.
- Use a standard font such as “Calibri” and a text size of no greater than 12. Special formatting such as bold, italics, and a single color per email highlight are acceptable in moderation. When artistic fonts or excessive formatting is used, messages can become difficult to read.
- Don’t underline text for emphasis if it is not a hyperlink. Underlines typically indicate links. Underlined text that does not hyperlink can confuse readers.
- Refrain from using unnecessary/large attachments.
- Limit the use of clipart/photos and ensure that all images are not copyrighted. A majority of images obtained via search engines are NOT available for free use. Look at the appropriate image licenses before utilizing images that you did not create.

This is not an exhaustive list. Messages must comply with NDUS and SBHE policies and procedures (including procedure 1901.2). The reporting of emergencies should follow the institution’s emergency management policy.
