New Student Registration

Summer and Fall 2024 New Student Registration

As a new student at Dickinson State University, we want to make sure you get off to a great start. During our New Student Registration sessions, you will get to meet with faculty, staff, and students who all want you to succeed. As part of this process, you will work with your advisor to register for your first semester of classes!

In-person New Student Registration Event

At this event, you will meet with an advisor, take placement exams if needed, register for classes, get your parking pass and student ID, sign up for housing, talk to financial aid, meet other incoming students. Parents and guardians will also get additional programming while their students are registering for classes.

On-demand New Student Registration

We know that school and extracurricular activities can make life busy. To help accommodate your busy schedules, you can sign up for one of our on-demand New Student Registrations. These events will be customizable to what you need including in-person or virtual appointments. You will still learn everything you want and need to know about DSU!

Registration:

Once you register, you will start to receive information about claiming your NDUS account, email, and completing your Financial Obligation Agreement. Housing and Dining, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Billing staff members will be available to speak with you no matter which version of New Student Registration you attend. And don’t worry - you will still be able to get your student ID and parking pass later!

If you have any questions, please contact us at DSU.Hawk@dickinsonstate.edu or at 701-502-4390.

If you are conditionally accepted or accepted to DSU, you need to register for New Student Registration. You must pre-register for the event to enroll in classes. Registration for each session closes five business days before the event.

  • Register for classes

  • Visit with DSU staff about housing and financial aid
  • Meet other incoming students

Yes. You must claim your NDUS student account and complete your Financial Obligation Agreement in Campus Connection before NSR. One week before the event, you'll receive a reminder email. This email will give you instructions for claiming your account and completing your FOA. Please call our office at 701-483-2175 with questions.

  • Driver’s License or official form of identification
  • Immunization Records (If you haven’t already submitted them.)

We may recommend you take placement tests for English and/or math courses. Whether you need to take these tests or not depends on your math and English ACT or SAT subscores or applicable transfer credits. If we recommend you take placement tests, you will take the Accuplacer Test.

If you're attending a virtual New Student Registration event and are recommended for testing, you will take the test virtually. You must contact the Admissions Office by calling or texting 701-354-2614 to schedule a virtual placement test.

*New Student Registration is supported by a non-refundable student fee charged to all new first-year and transfer students. This fee helps cover the cost of programming, materials, food, and staffing. This fee charge will be added to the student account as part of tuition and fees.
