Spring 2021 Sessions

Spring 2021 New Student Registration sign-up will open on October 1.

Placement Testing

Students may be recommended to take placement tests for English and/or Math courses. These recommendations are determined by ACT or SAT subscores in English and Math, or applicable transfer credits. If a student is recommended to take placement tests, they will sit for the Accuplacer Test. All students attending a virtual New Student Registration event who are recommended for testing will take their test virtually. Students attending the in-person New Student Registration event Friday, January 8, 2021 may opt to test virtually prior to attending.

Students must contact the Admissions Office by calling or texting 701-354-2614 to schedule a virtual placement test.

Testing is available on the following days:

  • Friday, November 20, 2020
  • Friday, December 4, 2020

Who can attend?

Students who are conditionally accepted or accepted to DSU may register for New Student Registration. You must pre-register for the event in order to enroll in classes. Registration for each session closes 5 business days prior to the event.

Why should I attend?

During these mandatory sessions you will:

  • meet with an advisor
  • take placement exams
  • register for classes
  • visit with DSU staff about housing and financial aid
  • meet other incoming students

How do I prepare?

One week prior to the event, you will receive a reminder e-mail. This e-mail will provide you with instructions to claim your NDUS student account and complete your Financial Obligation Agreement. Please call our office at 701-483-2175 with questions.

What do I need to bring?

  • Driver’s License or official form of identification
  • Immunization Records (If you haven’t already submitted them.)

*New Student Registration is supported by a non-refundable student fee charged to all new first-year and transfer students. This fee helps cover the cost of programming, materials, food, and staffing. This fee charge will be added to the student account as part of tuition and fees.
