TJ Dempsey began working for Dickinson State University in August 2022 as an Adjunct
Professor of Psychology. He was then hired in December of 2022 as the Career Services
and Tutoring Center Coordinator on campus. Dempsey is now an Assistant Professor of Psychology and serves on multiple committees.
Dempsey is a 2015 graduate of Dickinson State University where he was a Theodore Roosevelt
Honors Scholar and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor
of Science in Exercise Science with minors in Leadership and Coaching. He then completed
a Master of Science in Psychology at Grand Canyon University and is currently completing
his dissertation to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology with a Performance Psychology
Emphasis. His dissertation research is focused on the intersection of emotion regulation
and motivation theory. In the spring of 2023 he completed coursework to become a Certified Career Services Provider through the
National Career Development Association to better serve DSU students in his position.
Additionally, Dempsey is a Performance Enhancement Specialist, Certified Sports Nutrition
Coach, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Stretching and Flexibility Coach, and a Weight
Loss Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
