Samanthika serves as an assistant professor in Chemistry and Physics at the Department
of Natural Science, at Dickinson State University. Before she joined Dickinson State
University, she served as a professor in Chemistry at the Open University of Sri Lanka
for 20 years.
Samanthika received her Bachelor of Science, specializing in Chemistry from the University
of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Maine, USA. During
her Ph.D, she served as a teaching assistant as well as a research assistant. While
pursuing her doctoral degree and also during her academic career, she was the recipient
of many grants and was able to publish many research articles in well-recognized journals.
Her current research interest lies in the field of environmental chemistry, natural
product chemistry, and photochemistry.
