While pursuing his Ph.D. at UW-Madison, Dr. Meier received the highest score possible
on doctoral exams (distinction). Dr. Meier entered Dickinson State University as
an assistant professor of history in 1993. Prior to that position, Dr. Meier filled
similar positions at Illinois State University, Pomona College, and Radford University.
In addition to over 220 publications and presentations, Dr. Meier served as DSU’s
chair of social sciences for 15 years and briefly as the TRHLP co-director. Dr. Meier
benefited greatly from a series of scholarships, awards, institutes and professional
