The Advising Center is located on the second floor of May Hall. It has comfortable seating, computers, plug-ins for laptops, and a microwave available for studying or relaxing between classes. Academic planning is important for staying on track for graduation. Advisors can help you with academic planning, but it is also important for you to understand how the process works and “own” your academic plan.

Use the Academic Requirements Report in Campus Connection to see which requirements you have remaining. Then, use the Academic Planner in Campus Connection or the template below to map out your classes.

Starfish

Dickinson State University uses the Starfish platform to track student attendance, progress, and overall student achievement throughout the semester. You have access to the platform from the homepage of the university’s website.

Campus App

The “Campus” app tracks your success and progress all the way to graduation. It also allows you to connect with your advisors and instructors and easily schedule appointments.

UNIV 100 - Freshman Seminar

All first-year students (23 credits or less) enroll in UNIV 100 - Freshman Seminar. It is a one-credit intro-to-college course designed to give you the resources to be successful your first year of college. The course focuses on study skills, time management, campus resources, well-being, major exploration, campus involvement, and degree requirements. This course must be taken during the first semester of attendance.

UNIV 300 - Degree Completion Seminar

All transfer students with 24 credits or more enroll in UNIV 300 - Degree Completion Seminar. It is a one-credit intro to Dickinson State University designed to give you the resources to be successful your first semester at DSU. The course helps with the transition to a new school; understanding academic requirements, policies, and procedures; and planning for graduation and a career thereafter. This course must be taken during the first semester of attendance.
