Making an Appointment

You can schedule one-on-one peer tutoring sessions by using the Tutoring Center’s Starfish Scheduling system. Log in to Blackboard and select “My DSU,” which has a Starfish link. Detailed instructions can be found here. You can also get information on tutoring appointments and schedules by emailing dsu.tutoringcenter@dickinsonstate.edu or calling 701-502-4361.

All of our tutors are trained according to College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) standards. CRLA is an organization devoted to excellence in tutoring and mentoring at the college level.

The Tutoring Center offers flexible hours, competitive pay, and training for students who work as peer tutors.

Tutor Qualifications

  • You must have and maintain a GPA of 3.25 or better.
  • You can apply to tutor in any subject in which you’ve earned a grade of an A or a B.
  • You must be able to commit 1-2 hours per week to obtaining your CRLA Level I certification during your first semester at the center.
  • You must get one reference from a faculty member in the subject in which you would like to tutor. If you would like to tutor in multiple subject areas, you should get a recommendation from a professor in each subject area. View the Faculty Reference Form.
