Dickinson State University (DSU) welcomes the community to attend the 2022 fall commencement ceremony Friday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. in May Hall’s Dorothy Stickney Auditorium. The 2022 ceremony will feature Dickinson State student Laurie Garbel, who will address the graduating class as the student speaker.
Prior to DSU, Garbel received her associate degree from Columbia College in 1992. After moving around the region, the Williston native returned home in 2001. An active member and volunteer in the community, Garbel has worked with various non-profit organizations and local agencies including: the Williston Basin Resource Coalition, Western Stars Gymnastics, an active fundraiser for the ASB Innovation Academy, an elected school board member, and more.
Garbel, who is graduating with a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Business degree from DSU, will continue to work as a substitute teacher in the Williston area following graduation.
Dickinson State will award four master’s degrees, 70 baccalaureate degrees, nine associate degrees, and 14 certificates at the fall commencement ceremony. Students will celebrate their graduation by walking across the stage to receive their diplomas from DSU President Steve Easton.
Live streaming of the ceremony will be available at www.dickinsonstate.edu.
