DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State University is recognizing the recent accomplishments of Dr. Anna Faktorovich, whose work in creative writing and literary scholarship continues to strengthen her teaching and research.
Faktorovich recently published a short story in The Hemlock: A Literary Arts Journal. The piece is part of her larger fictional collection, “Epistles of Sexist Theologians,” which examines the historical roots of sexist ideas in popular theology.
“This short story is part of a book that explores the historical origins of sexist ideas in popular theology,” Faktorovich said. “Many questions arose during the creative stage as I searched for dramatic characters, and those questions continue to shape the research I do today.”
Faktorovich is teaching Mythology (232) this semester and said the creative work she completed for the collection has blended naturally with the research she conducts for her lectures.
“I am thinking about the creative research I performed months earlier as I perform new research for my lectures,” she said. “Now I’m weighing the fictional questions I explored against the facts of what mythologies and theologies are based on.”
Alongside her fiction, Faktorovich is preparing for the release of her new scholarly book, “Introduction to the Attribution of Literature,” which was published by Routledge in November 2025. The book is the first volume in her new series on attribution and builds on her earlier 20-volume series, “British Renaissance Re-Attribution and Modernization,” published by her press, Anaphora Literary Press.
“An alternative title for this book is ‘Introduction to Stylometry,’” she said. “Stylometry combines statistics with linguistics, and I incorporate elements of linguistics into the courses where I cover grammar, usage and language.”
Faktorovich has several other manuscripts under review, including textbooks with Bloomsbury and Macmillan. She has also received a contract offer from Routledge for her creative writing textbook.
Reflecting on her recent progress, she said, “If you keep researching a topic, eventually other people will find something in it that benefits them.”
