Madison Beckler, a biology and chemistry double major from Bismarck, North Dakota, is continuing a family tradition at Dickinson State University while forging her own path through academics, leadership and campus involvement.
Drawn to DSU by both family ties and academic opportunity, Beckler chose the university for its strong honors program and the community she knew would support her growth.
“I chose to come to DSU following my family legacy, as well as for the honors program,” she said.
Her love of science and discovery made biology and chemistry a natural fit. Curious by nature, Beckler was eager to dive into a challenging course load that would push her intellectually and prepare her for a future in science.
She credits Dr. Colin Strine as one of the most influential faculty members in her academic journey. His classes presented new challenges and inspired her to reach beyond her comfort zone in pursuit of academic excellence.
Outside the classroom, Beckler stays active in several campus organizations. She is a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program, Science Club, Blue Hawk Catholic and Student Ambassadors. Her involvement across these groups reflects her passion for learning, leadership and community.
She also enjoys supporting campus life by attending athletic and fine arts events. One of her favorite memories came during basketball season, when students packed the gym in a show of school spirit. “The student body filled the stands and the sound in the gym was insane,” she said. “It was so cool to see so many students supporting the Blue Hawks.”
From the lab to the student section, Beckler is making the most of her experience at DSU. By blending academic rigor with community involvement, she’s honoring her family’s legacy while building one of her own.
