DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State University (DSU) will celebrate the achievements of its fall 2025 graduates during a commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at 2 p.m. MT in the Dorothy Stickney Auditorium in May Hall. The event will bring together graduates, families, friends, faculty and staff to honor the dedication, perseverance and accomplishments of the Class of 2025. 

Student speakers announced 

Two students have been selected to address the graduating class. 

Alyssa Buckman, a Dickinson native, education major and member of the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program, will share her reflections as a future educator shaped by DSU’s supportive and close-knit learning environment. Buckman is active in the Student Education Association and the DSU band. 

Ian Dawkins Jr., a native of The Bahamas, will also speak during the ceremony. Dawkins is a business administration and finance major earning certificates in banking and entrepreneurship. As vice president of the International Club, he has championed cultural connection and inclusion on campus. He will speak about his journey of growth, resilience, and pride in the Blue Hawk community. 

Degrees and honors 

DSU will confer 78 degrees, including: 

  • 5 master’s degrees 
  • 62 bachelor’s degrees 
  • 11 associate degrees 

An additional 21 graduates will earn academic honors in recognition of their outstanding performance throughout their studies.
