Intramural Sports

Dickinson State intramurals allow students to participate in an array of recreational sporting activities in a relaxed and fun environment. Participating in intramural sports is a great way to get involved on campus, have fun with your friends and even meet new ones. Whether you want to learn a new sport or stay competitive in one of your favorites, intramural sports are a great way to connect with others. Intramurals are open to all Dickinson State students.

Open Gym

Every Monday from 4 – 5:30 p.m. in Wienbergen Gym.

Intramural Leagues

  • Volleyball (Co-ed Teams if possible)
  • 3 on 3 ½ Court Basketball League
  • Flag Football

Request to Add a New Sport or Level of Play

Dickinson State University is committed to providing recreational and athletic opportunities for all students and has a history of adding opportunities at the intramural, club, and varsity levels based on student interest and abilities. The University is providing the following information to give direction on how to request a new sport or level of play.

Club

Request for club sport should be directed to the Director of Student Life, Keith James, at keith.w.james@dickinsonstate.edu, or 701-483-2391.

Intramural

Intramural sport requests should be directed to the Intramural Coordinator, Brady Dutchak, at brady.lee.dutchak@dickinsonstate.edu. Intramural teams are formed based on interest and scheduled based on facility availability.

Intercollegiate

Intercollegiate NAIA (varsity and junior varsity) sport requests should be directed to the Athletic Director, Pete Stanton, at p.stanton@dickinsonstate.edu , or 701-483-2037. All requests for new sports or levels of play will be reviewed and considered based on the sport, number of participants interested, availability of competition and recruitment within the college’s normal competitive region, and the ability to sustain a viable team.

Inquiries

Requests are accepted from students, parents or guardians, staff, coaches, or other interested parties. All inquiries and requests will be answered and reviewed. The College has a strict non-discrimination policy and any concern based on sex or gender in athletics should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator, Keith James, at keith.w.james@dickinsonstate.edu, or 701-483-2391.

Student-athletes at DSU receive the training and support needed to hone skills and improve personally outside the classroom. Student Facilities

Ben C. Frank Human Performance Center

The Ben C. Frank Human Performance Center is a 5,000 square foot facility that includes over 25,000 pounds of free weights (not including dumbbells and bumper plates), multiple Olympic platforms and free weight racks and stations, located in the lower level of Wienbergen Hall. Along with the free weights, DSU has incorporated the equipment necessary to implement the Athletic Republic Acceleration Sports Training Programs, including a Generation II Super Treadmill (29+ mph, 40% grade), specially designed hardwood plyometric floors, and weight machines designed to target the muscles of the hip girdle, trunk, and legs.

Biesiot Activities Center

The Henry Biesiot Activities Center (BAC) is a community multipurpose athletic complex that was named for long-time head football coach Henry “Hank” Biesiot. Just a short walk from main campus, the BAC offers 5,500 square feet of indoor multipurpose space and outdoor space for a variety of DSU, community, private, and regional events. The facility features the only artificial turf field in western North Dakota, the largest outdoor video board in the state, more than 50 foot candles of light, latest technology for track scoring, seating for more than 3,500 fans, on-site locker rooms and training facilities, and outdoor athletic event space for up to 4,000. Stoxen Library

Blue Hawk Hub

The Blue Hawk Hub, located in the lower level of the Student Center, was designed with you in mind! Used for student activities and events, the Hub boasts lounge and high top seating, a large projector and screen, customizable lighting, and dedicated gaming PC’s for club or varsity esports use.

The Perch

The Perch dining hall is proud to offer a dining program complete with signature brands and menu selections that include just about every item you can imagine. Just feast your eyes on what we have available! Featuring a wide variety of fresh food designed to satisfy everyone's appetite with food choices to rival your favorite restaurants. Sanford Sports Facility

Also located in the lower level of the Student Center, the Sanford Sports Facility at DSU is a 5,500 square foot, indoor turfed area designed for community recreation focused on baseball, softball and soccer. Learn more about the Sanford Sports Facility here!
