Rolf Butz joined the School of Business and Entrepreneurship as a lecturer in 1997
and taught full time since 2000 as Assistant Professor. He received a pre-graduate
engineering diploma, Mainz, Germany in 1975, BS of Science in Business Administration
from Dickinson State University (DSU) in 1985, Concentration of International Business
from DSU in 1993, and an M.B.A. from University of North Dakota in 2005.
Rolf Butz teaches the International Business core classes as well as marketing related
courses. Mr. Butz was instrumental in setting up the curriculum for the International
Business major. Following in suit with his passion for international business, he
enjoys serving as a visiting scholar for various institutions abroad. Recently, he
has been invited to teach Strategic Management at Sichuan International Studies University,
Chongqing, China. Rolf Butz is an active member of the Academy of International Business.
Rolf Butz has led several International Business Internship courses to China. Students
interned at renowned companies, such as Lifan Motors, during the summer semester,
and appreciated country-wide sightseeing at the end of the internship. Recently,
Mr. Butz led a Study Tour group to Europe.
Rolf Butz enjoys horseback riding, international travel and food (eating it more than
cooking it), and serving others as a teacher and mentor.
