Sarah Griffis came to DSU in 2019 as a student-athlete and graduated with a Bachelors
of Arts in English in the Spring of 2023. She is currently an Admissions Counselor
at DSU. During her four years as a student at DSU, Sarah was a distance runner for
the Blue Hawk Cross Country and Track ad Field team, a member of the TRHLP, was an
RA between 2020-2023, and acted as the 2022-23 President of the History Society/League
of Political Science organization. Sarah also participated in a few theater performances
and tutored for the SOAR’s Writing Center.
While in her last year and a half as a student, Sarah discovered a passion for historical
research and began working with Dr. Jeff Wells on an undergraduate thesis that explored
the relationship between former US President Theodore Roosevelt and the nineteenth
century poet Edwin Arlington Robinson. Sarah presented her research first at the 2022
Northern Great Plains History Conference, then again in the summer of 2023 for the
Theodore Roosevelt Association.
Sarah is currently continuing to fine-tune her undergraduate thesis with Dr. Wells
in an attempt to have the research published, while also earning a Certificate in
Digital Communications. She hopes to soon enter into a History Master’s program and
then start a career at a museum or archive.
