Dickinson State University (DSU) sophomore Codi Nagle is gaining hands-on experience through a local internship as she explores future career opportunities. Originally from a farm in eastern Montana, Nagle’s upbringing played a major role in shaping her academic and career interests. She plans to remain involved in agriculture after college and chose her major with those goals in mind.

Nagle, an accounting and agricultural business major, is interning at Jacey Moser State Farm in Dickinson. In her role, she assists customers in the office, answers phone calls, schedules appointments, makes outgoing calls, and manages the business’s Facebook page. “The internship has shown me what it looks like to have an office job and work with people in that space,” Nagle said.

Nagle also competes on the DSU track and field team, a factor that influenced her decision to attend DSU. She said the university offered a balance of athletics, academics, and proximity to home. “They also had a good agriculture program that interested me,” she added.

She credits DSU professors for encouraging her to pursue multiple internships to explore career options before graduating. “Some of my professors have really encouraged me to do lots of internships so I can see what different jobs look like,” Nagle said. “That gave me the confidence to seek out opportunities.”

Through her coursework and campus involvement, Nagle has developed organizational and time-management skills that have translated well into her internship. “I’ve been able to apply keeping an organized schedule while juggling sports, classes and work.”

Reflecting on the internship, Nagle said the experience “has opened many doors for the future.” It has provided skills useful in any workplace and helped her make professional connections. As she continues her education at DSU, Nagle plans to pursue additional opportunities that allow her to grow professionally while staying connected to her agricultural roots.
