Lights, laughter, and a little bit of theatrical magic took over the DSU campus!

Marisa Riesinger, teaming up with Nicole Kittelson—3rd grade teacher at DPS and RRVA coordinator—brought 23 energetic students (grades 1–8) to campus for a day they won’t forget. The highlight? A lively readers theater packed with impromptu acting, big personalities, and nonstop giggles.

Under the direction of Sarah Crossingham, Blue Hawk Theater Guild director and professor, students jumped into character using costumes, silly props, and plenty of imagination. Riesinger, Crossingham, and Leiss—alongside six teacher education students—guided the fun, turning the stage into a playground for creativity.

This marks the third RRVA collaboration event, and if Riesinger has her way, it’s just the beginning—she’s aiming to make it a monthly tradition.

And the verdict? A smashing success. One 8th grader summed it up best: “This is where I want to go to college.”
