Transfer Advising
- Upon transferring to Dickinson State University, the coursework you have previously completed with be evaluated for credit. Your advisor will work with you to help you on your personalized educational plan.

International Admissions Procedure
This is where your journey begins to attend Dickinson State University – follow these steps to get started!
Step 1 - Review Important Dates

Step 2 - Create an account
Create a username and password to begin the application process to DSU! Enter your contact information, academic interests, then click submit to access our online application. If you have already created an account, you can login to your VIP profile here.
Step 3 - Apply for Admission
You may apply for admission to Dickinson State by clicking the "APPLY NOW" button on your VIP homepage. Using the same username and password you created for your VIP page, you can log into the online application for admission. While there, you can also find links to scholarships, find information about financial aid, and discover more about DSU!
Step 4 - Application Fee Payment
International Fee Payment
- There is a one-time application fee of $35
- The application fee can be paid at the time you apply.
- Applications will not be processed until the application fee is paid.

Step 5 – Passport Copy
Submit a copy of the data page of your passport. Copies may be submitted by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
Step 6 – Entrance Exam Scores
All applicants must submit official scores from an entrance exam. One of the following tests and minimum scores are required for admission.
- SAT (ERW + M) – 950 and Writing & Language section – 25
- Send to: DSU Admissions, 291 Campus Dr., Dickinson, ND 58601
- ACT Composite – 18 and ACT English Subsection – 18
- Send to: DSU Admissions, 291 Campus Dr., Dickinson, ND 58601
- TOEFL – 71
- Copies may be submitted by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
- IELTS – 6.0 total

Step 7 – Official Academic Credentials
All students who have attended secondary school outside of the United States must submit official academic credentials. This includes leaving exam scores and high school academic transcript reports. They must be mailed to DSU in a sealed envelope to the following address:

All post-secondary coursework is required to be evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) evaluation company. A course-by-course evaluation is required for all post-secondary coursework. SpanTran is a NACES evaluation agency that has created a custom application for DSU to help students get the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. Step 8 – Declaration of Finance
The Declaration of Finance form may be submitted by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
Step 9 – Notice from Bank
Documents submitted must indicate that the student, student’s parent, or student’s sponsor has the necessary funding for 1 full year of tuition, fees, insurance, room, board, and books. This amount is listed in the Declaration of Finance. When submitting documents from the bank, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- The documents provided must be issued by the financial institution
- The name on the account must match the “Sponsor Name” listed on the Declaration of Finance.
- Bank statements must be issued on a date later than the date that the application was submitted to Dickinson State University.
- After being issued by the bank, documents are valid for 6 months.

Step 10 – Immunization Documents
Submit copy of your immunization document by scanning and uploading directly to your student application or by emailing dsu.hawk@dickinsonstate.edu.
- 2 MMRs
- Submitted document must show two doses of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine no less than one month apart from a licensed health professional or governmental department. Scanned copies are acceptable.
- Meningitis
- Students under the age of 21 are required to show proof of meningococcal meningitis vaccine given after their 16th birthday.
