Dickinson State University invites the public to hear the First Lady of North Dakota, Kathryn Burgum, speak on the disease of addiction, recovery and mental well-being Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at 6 p.m. in Klinefelter Hall’s Beck Auditorium on the DSU campus. North Dakota Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner will be introducing the First Lady.

The First Lady’s Recovery Reinvented presentation comes at good time for the university, which started its new minor in addiction studies program this fall 2022 semester.

“Recovery Reinvented focuses on how individuals and communities can eliminate the shame and stigma of addiction,” said First Lady Burgum. “Dickinson State’s new minor in addiction studies is a great step toward empowering more people to end stigma and pursue careers in this field at a time where it is so deeply needed.”

Program attendance is free. For more information, contact Laurie Karie, director of Counseling and Health Services at Dickinson State, 701-502-4413 or laurie.karie@dickinsonstate.edu.
