Dickinson State University’s Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program (TRHLP) is excited to host the 12th annual Boo Hawks event on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2-5 p.m. in Wienbergen Gymnasium. Families will enter through the south doors of the gym and step into an afternoon filled with fun, family-friendly activities led by clubs and organizations from across DSU.

“Boo Hawks is always a blast! We love seeing familiar faces return each year, and it’s so exciting to welcome new ones. That’s what makes this event so special,” shared Natalie Lile, TRHLP student assistant director.

Although Boo Hawks is primarily designed for families with children aged 0-12, everyone is welcome to join the festivities. Admission is free, and this year’s event will include indoor trick-or-treating, games, and the ever-popular coloring contest. The contest features three age categories (0-4, 5-7, and 8-12), with coloring templates available for download at dickinsonstate.edu/boohawks. Contest entries can be submitted upon arrival, and prizes will be awarded for first place in each age group. Winners will be notified the following week.

“One of the most rewarding parts of being in TRHLP is organizing Boo Hawks. It’s a great way to plan a community event and bring people together,” said Griffin Obrigewitch, also a TRHLP student assistant director. In a new twist this year, coloring pages will also be shared with local nursing and assisted living homes, allowing older members of the community to join in the Halloween fun.

Families are encouraged to wear their best costumes for the family costume contest, and there will be two photo booths to capture your Halloween memories. Other activities include face painting, temporary tattoos, and cornhole.

Bring your family, wear your costumes, and get ready for an afternoon of spooky fun!
