Meet Brylee Farnsworth, a Dickinson State University (DSU) criminal justice major from Dickinson, North Dakota.
The criminal justice program at DSU is committed to preparing students for impactful careers in legal services, law enforcement, corrections, and support roles within the justice system. Senior Brylee Farnsworth shares, “My favorite part of the program is the number of criminal justice professionals who come in to speak to our classes.” Hearing directly from these professionals has enriched her education and provided valuable insights into the field. Farnsworth has also valued the networking opportunities that have connected her with industry leaders even before graduation.
Now in her final year, Farnsworth has taken a variety of courses led by outstanding faculty. Among her favorites are “Policing in America” and “Criminology.” She credits much of her success to associate professor Michael Jennings, whose teaching and mentorship have been pivotal in her journey. “He truly cares about his classes and is the one who brings in most of the criminal justice professionals,” Farnsworth notes.
After graduation, she is set to start her career as a victim specialist in Wyoming, feeling confident that her classroom experiences and hands-on learning have prepared her well. Farnsworth believes strongly that DSU’s criminal justice program “is on the rise and will continue to get better.”
