Dickinson State University (DSU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Dorval as its new Director of Strategic Enrollment Management. Dorval brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education, with a strong record of leadership in enrollment management, student success, academic programming, and strategic partnerships.
Dorval currently serves as Early University/Career Services Coordinator at DSU, where she has demonstrated exceptional results in expanding access and streamlining enrollment processes. In her role, she led efforts to grow Dual Credit participation by 110 percent through strengthened partnerships with K–12 schools, counselors, and families. She also redesigned enrollment workflows to a more efficient, student-centered system, improving accuracy and operational effectiveness.
Prior to joining DSU, Dorval served as Medical Coding & Insurance Program Director at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, where she oversaw programs serving more than 400 students across multiple delivery formats. Under her leadership, program graduates achieved a 98 percent certification pass rate. Her experience also includes roles in degree audit, public relations, and healthcare coding, providing a well-rounded foundation in both academic and administrative functions.
Dorval holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bemidji State University and multiple graduate certificates in instructional design, online teaching, and educational technology. She is currently completing a Master of Education in Educational Technology from Minnesota State University–Mankato.

As Director of Strategic Enrollment Management, Dorval will oversee recruitment strategy, admissions operations, and outreach initiatives. Dorval will champion DSU’s efforts to reach over 1,900 students by 2030, a stretch goal recently established by the institution’s leadership team.
