Rebecca Davis, a graduate of Dickinson State University, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in writing in May 2025. Originally from Casper, Wyoming, she lives on a multigenerational ranch while continuing to pursue her writing career.
Davis chose Dickinson State after hearing strong recommendations about its English department and the opportunities it offered to grow as a writer. During her time there, she found mentorship that played a major role in her development. Professors Niles Haich and Tony Vinci were especially influential, pushing her to improve her work and guiding her through both traditional and self-publishing processes.
Since graduating, she has balanced part-time work with her writing goals. Her first book, Secret Files of Scotland Yard, is available for purchase, and she is focused on completing her second book.
Davis encourages current students to prepare for life outside the classroom and to accept challenges as they come.
“Take everything one step at a time and remember that the only thing you can control is your own decisions,” she said. “Never stop trying to learn from everything you encounter in the world.”
As she continues to build her career, Davis remains committed to writing and expanding her work, using the foundation she developed at Dickinson State to guide her future.
