Dickinson State University (DSU) is excited to welcome Toby Crew, a master’s student in sports management who will serve as the graduate assistant for the DSU Esports team.

Hailing from Austin, Texas, Crew earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Oregon’s Honors College. While at Oregon, he demonstrated his leadership skills by managing the university’s gaming club’s Overwatch 2 team. This experience cemented his passion for esports and prepared him for his new role at DSU.

Crew was drawn to DSU by the supportive, close-knit community that smaller campuses offer. "DSU Esports feels like the exact type of people and community that I look for and thrive in," Crew shared. "I've always been a fan of smaller communities because of the potential for closer connections between members.”

A passionate gamer, Crew enjoys playing Overwatch 2, Deadlock, Guilty Gear Strive, and Final Fantasy XIV. He is eager to bring this enthusiasm to the DSU Esports program, working to create a vibrant and competitive environment.

Crew looks forward to building relationships within the DSU community and recruiting players to enhance the Esports program. He is committed to guiding the team in a positive direction. “I like to live vicariously through my players' and program's success, so I live for any chance to help make that success happen,” he said.

Looking ahead, Crew envisions a bright future for DSU Esports, emphasizing the importance of individual player development and team growth. With the right support and a shared vision, he believes the program can continue to thrive in collegiate competitions and strengthen its reputation as a varsity-level sport.

DSU is thrilled to have Toby Crew join the Blue Hawk family and looks forward to the exciting impact he will make on the Esports program and the campus community.
