Rudie Swanson has been named coordinator for both the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SoBE) and the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program (TRHLP) at Dickinson State University (DSU). She also began serving as an adjunct instructor for the Freshman Seminar this semester.
Swanson earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication from DSU. During her undergraduate studies, she was active in Student Senate and cheerleading and studied abroad in Russia and England. She later earned a Master of Arts in communication and leadership from Gonzaga University and a Master of Science in addiction counseling from Grand Canyon University.
Before returning to DSU, Swanson worked as a licensed addiction counselor and case manager in corrections and community mental health settings. She is a member of the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
Outside of work, Swanson stays busy as a self-described dance mom to her four daughters, who participate in recreational and competitive dance. She and her husband enjoy traveling, spending time at the lake and supporting the Minnesota Vikings.
Swanson said she is excited to return to campus and is passionate about supporting students. Her goal at DSU is to work with students to help them reach their greatest potential as future leaders of the community.
Swanson’s return brings professional experience and alumni perspective to her new roles, reinforcing DSU’s commitment to student leadership and academic excellence.
