North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will deliver his 2024 State of the State address at 10 a.m. (MT) Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Dorothy Stickney Auditorium. Members of the university and community are invited to attend. A reception will follow on the main level of May Hall. The doors to the auditorium will open at 9 a.m. MT.

Gov. Burgum will speak about the current state of North Dakota and highlight the state’s initiatives in health, tribal engagement and legislation, agricultural development, workforce development, tax relief initiatives, educational advancements, and the state’s development and plans moving forward.

“We are excited and honored to host Governor Burgum’s State of the State address at Dickinson State University,” stated Steve Easton, DSU President. “We welcome area residents to come to campus to hear his plans to move North Dakota forward, including Dickinson State’s contributions to a bright future.”

Information for Visitors –

Please arrive early as security measures will be in place starting at 6 a.m. Employees, visitors, and students will need to go through the prescreening process at the main access entry point. Visitors are welcome to congregate in the vending area while awaiting screening. A separate screening process will be available at the ADA access point for those using that entry point.

Please consider leaving all non-essential items, such as backpacks and purses at home, if possible. You will be asked to remove phones, keys, and larger metal objects as you go through security.

Parking and Door Access –

Due to an anticipated large audience, visitors and DSU students, faculty and staff are encouraged to use designated parking areas for the event. A shuttle service from Wienbergen Gym to the main entrance will also be available.

Door access to the event will be limited to one entry point between May Hall and Stoxen Library. There will also be another access point for ADA access at the north entry of May Hall. Volunteers will be stationed near all entrances/exits to direct traffic to the designated entry points.
