Dickinson State University (DSU) is excited to announce the theme for the 2024 Homecoming: "Buster for President.” Scheduled for October 13 - 19, 2024, the Homecoming events promise to be a vibrant celebration of school spirit, community, and DSU's legacy of excellence.
Homecoming is a cherished tradition at Dickinson State University, bringing together students, alumni, faculty, and community members to celebrate the university's spirit and camaraderie. This year's theme, "Buster for President," is a tribute to the university's beloved mascot, Buster the Blue Hawk, and the leadership and unity he embodies.
Homecoming week will include a parade, athletic competitions, DSU Heritage Foundation engagements, and student activities. Activities are still being planned and will be posted on the DSU website as they are finalized.
"We are excited to announce 'Buster for President' as the theme for the 2024 Homecoming at Dickinson State University," said Holly Gruhlke, DSU vice president. "Homecoming is a time when we come together to celebrate our school's rich history and traditions. Our students selected the theme for this year after many great submissions. Given the election year, they felt this would be a fun nod to that. Buster, our beloved mascot, embodies the values of leadership, unity, and school pride, making him the perfect candidate for President. We look forward to welcoming students, alumni, and the community to join us in this exciting celebration."
The Homecoming Parade, a highlight of the week, will feature colorful floats, esteemed alumni and supporters, and various campus organizations. The athletic events will showcase the talents of DSU's student-athletes and provide an opportunity for alumni to connect and reminisce about their time as Blue Hawks. The week will also include a variety of student activities, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.
