The Dickinson State Shooting Sports team is ready to start its inaugural season in the USA Clay League after naming five student-athletes to the team. The university announced the addition of the co-ed program in July as the 20th athletic offering at DSU.

“We’re excited to have this group of athletes as our first squad in school history,” stated Rus Kiser, DSU head shooting sports coach. “They are skilled and experienced trap shooters and are eager to get the season started. They’ve been instrumental in getting this team and club running from the start. We are looking forward to the fall season and growing the program to new heights,”

The team consists of the following student-athletes:

Victoria Moreno

Shayna Pond

“This opportunity is definitely once in a lifetime,” said Moreno. “It’s incredibly humbling to be on the first ever DSU trap team, the first ever all women’s squad, and being the first ever DSU Shooting Sports Club President! I am so excited and thrilled to be on this team with all these amazing people and I can’t wait to watch us make a name for ourselves and Dickinson State! Because as you know, Hawks are always up!”

The team is scheduled to compete at the 2023 Fall Shootout, hosted by Bismarck State College, on September 16.
