On Nov. 14, the DSU Heritage Foundation (DSUHF) will try to do something the group has never attempted: Raise $100,000 in a single day during their DSU Give Day Campaign.

Developed by Myren Moore ’14 and his efforts over the last several years, the 24-hour goal has grown from $20,000 - $100,000 in just three years. Give Day is the day set aside each year by the DSUHF to raise funds to support scholarships and other areas for students at Dickinson State University. This will be the third Give Day, following on the heels of those meeting more modest goals in 2021 and 2022.

DSUHF Alumni Relations and Event Coordinator, Kierra Schneider ‘22 was the Give Day Student Ambassador in 2021 when the Foundation surpassed its fundraising goal of $20,000 in 24 hours, raising a total of $59,063 through mostly digital means. Emboldened by that success, the Foundation set a goal of $75,000 in 2022 and again surpassed that number, with $78,042 from 278 donors.

 
 

“One of our main goals is to help new donors for Dickinson State feel comfortable giving,” Schneider says. “We want everyone to feel like their gift matter no matter the size, because it does!” In her first year as Give Day Ambassador, Schneider, and Student Ambassador, Xander Beeson are reaching for a high bar, with a goal of $100,000 in a single day. “It is a heavy lift, but the supporters of Dickinson State University have always stepped up to the plate, and we’re going to give it our best shot,” Schneider said.

Schneider outlined several creative supporting opportunities:

  • Be a challenger: Challenge another business, team, or organization to match your gift.

  • Breakfast Drive 6-9 a.m., MST: Donuts, donated by Haylee Culver, a free mug featuring the 1958 Rodeo Team complete with hot beverage will be served at the DSU HF house while supplies last. If $2,500 is raised for DSU Rodeo, the Dickinson Rodeo Council will match it.

  • Lunch Drive: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Pizza, donated by Papa Johns, will be served at the DSUHF house. DSU President Steve Easton and his wife, Marivern, will match donations at $2,500.

  • 50 for 50 State Challenge: The goal is to raise two $50 donations from each U.S. state.

  • Young Alumni Challenge: The foundation is asking those who graduated in the last 10 years to show their Blue Hawk pride based on their graduation year. For example, a 2022 graduate would donate $20.22; 2018 would donate $20.18, etc.

  • This Ain’t My First Rodeo Challenge: Former Dickinson State Rodeo athletes and supporters are encouraged to donate during the Breakfast Challenge, with donations up to $2,500 being matched.

  • Bonus Challenge #1: President Easton and his wife, Marivern are matching every dollar donated by a new donor up to $5,000.
